Where does Dr. Karsy see patients and operate?
Dr. Karsy admits patients, holds clinic and operates at both UM-Sparrow in Lansing, MI as well as University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Based on your specific case needs, the required team and patient goals, he will work with you to find a site you are comfortable with. He also does telemedicine consultations and follow-ups. This allows patients to stay connected no matter how far away they live. Both sites offer multidisciplinary neuro-oncology clinics allowing for patients to see multiple providers at once and be eligible for any clinical trial within the University of Michigan system.

What is Dr. Karsy's availability and wait time?
We aim to respond to all consultation requests within 2 business days and setup a clinic appointment within a week. Self-directed referrals from patients are supported but may require an order from your primary care physician depending on your insurance. We do not feel insurance should be a limitation to receiving quality healthcare and thus accept a wide variety of insurances including commercial, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and workmans compensation. For a complete list visit here.

Does Dr. Karsy treat pediatric patients?
Yes, Dr. Karsy specializes in the management of complex skull base and craniofacial disorders, such as craniopharyngioma, juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma, and chordoma which can be very helpful in the treatment of pediatric patients. He will work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team.

Yes, Dr. Karsy reviews second opinions both nationally and internationally regarding patient cases. As these are not full neurosurgical examinations or have all the information, it may not be possible to go through all the details of a case or render a full opinion. How do I prepare for surgery and what should I expect afterwards?
