I am board-certified Neurosurgeon who specializes in minimally invasive approaches to lesions of the brain and spine. I completed my residency in neurosurgery at the University of Utah along with a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, deformity and spine oncology. Afterwards I completed a fellowship in endoscopic and open skull base at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. I have served as faculty at the University of Utah, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Drexel University College of Medicine.
I focus on the treatment of skull base and other cranial pathologies including pituitary adenoma, meningioma, glioma, vestibular schwannoma/acoustic neuroma, and other lesions. I also perform surgeries on the spine and spinal cord. I use cutting edge tools such as stereotactic neuronavigation, awake and asleep cranial mapping, and endoscopic techniques.
My goal is to always find the right surgical approach for each patient and focus on reducing surgical risk and have performed over 2000 surgical procedures in the brain and spine. I work with a large multi-disciplinary team that consists of neuroradiologists, neuropathologists, neuroophthalmologists, neuroendocrinologists, and specialized otolaryngology (ENT) cancer surgeons to ensure the best treatment outcomes for cranial lesions. I also have experience in radiosurgery and molecularly targeted treatments of brain tumors.
My research interests are in improving healthcare outcomes, healthcare disparities, novel surgical approaches, and better molecular characterization of tumors to improve patient treatments. I have over 180 publications, 12 book chapters, and co-edited a surgical textbook. I run an active laboratory involved in research with a team of fantastic medical students.
